My Beautiful Malaysia Day creates new Malaysia record for volunteering

It was like any other Sunday morning but it was not really like any other. It was very different from other sunday mornings.Thousands of youths gathered all over Malaysia to pick up trash and clean up roads under the My Beautiful Malaysia Day programme.

At many places, the youths went from house to house, talking to residents about the dangers of dengue mosquitoes and the importance of recycling. Youths, comprising students, National Service trainees and private and public sector employees, took part in the two-hour event.

Ministers and Chief Ministers participated in the event which was organised all over the country. The leaders urged youths to partner with the Government in developing the nation. One of the key goal of the event was to kindle the spirit of volunteerism among youths and kick start the year of volunteerism.

In IPOH, Perak about 6,000 people armed with brooms, baskets and plastic bags cleaned up Padang Ipoh and its surrounding areas . Many of the youth were in the field by 7am and were up early as they were all very excited. In KOTA KINABALU, the historic Prince Philip Park in Tanjung Aru got its much-awaited sprucing up by the volunteers.

In KUANTAN, strong winds and heavy rain almost derailed the state-level launch of the event at the scenic Teluk Chempedak here. However, the sudden weather change was not enough to break the spirits of the 6,000-strong crowd who participated in the event.

The event was considered a huge success and created a new Malaysia record in volunteering. More than 1.2 million people participated in the event.

1M4U launches contests to attract youth for volunteering

1Malaysia for Youth (1M4U) has launched idea contests to create a buzz about 1M4U and to attract youth in volunteering opportunities. Youth can participate in contests through the submission of nation building ideas. The criteria for the ideas are that they should be low cost and have high impact on the society. 1M4U is a blue ocean idea conceived by the government of Malaysia whereby youth of all races will be mobilised to participate in nation building activities. It is a brilliant move and tries to create a win-win for all stakeholders namely the youth, society and the government.

Most of the youth waste their time during holidays, either surfing net or hanging around in malls or other places. In Malaysia it is called Lepak-Lapak. At the same time the unemployment among Malaysian youth is very high. It is more than 10%. The main reason for the high unemployment among the youth is their lack of soft skills. Undertaking volunteering activities rather than wasting their time during holidays will be a good ways to build soft skills. 1M4U seeks to develop communication, leadership and other soft skills among the youth. Taking part in the volunteering activities brings youth in close contact with people from different background. It also develops self confidence in youth and develops their emotional quotient which is very important in this interconnected world.

Malaysia is a developing country and there are many people in the country who are still poor or live below poverty line. Many Malaysians live in rural areas which is not very developed compared to the urban areas. The youth can take part in volunteering activities which will help the society especially the bottom 40% of the country. Through the volunteering activities, youth can help farmers advance their agricultural produce, help rural entrepreneurs market their product to urban people, help micro-entrepreneurs increase the scale of their business, provide tuition to rural and poor children, beautify the neighbourhood, etc.

The Government also benefits tremendously from the 1M4U. The Government can leverage on the volunteers to deliver some of their services at low cost. It will help government to reduce the expenditure and help save money which can be spend on more productive purpose. It will also help government reach remote people at low cost as it can leverage the volunteers to provide welfare services to the remote rural places. If done properly, 1M4U can help reduce the deficit of the government budget.

In a nut shell 1M4U is a great programme that has huge potential if undertaken properly. It can create a win-win for all the people participating from it and also the society in general. We at Khatore Pharmaceuticals, the makers of hepatitis treatment and fatty liver treatment medicine, wish 1M4U all the success.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni – The best ever captain of Indian Cricket team

Dhoni is the best captain that Indian cricket had so far. He has won two world cups, both one day world cup and twenty-twenty world cup. Under his captaincy India was also world number one test team for a brief period of time. He has led India in 20 test wins and is only one win away from the record of Saurav Ganguly who had led India in 21 test wins. India became number 1 in the ICC Test Rankings in December 2009. He also led India in a series-levelling world championship of Tests against the South Africans in February 2010.

He is known as the man with Midas touch and has led his team to wins in many tight situations. He is known for taking the matches close to tight finish and then when it becomes a battle of nerves, he comes on tops.

He comes from a state and city which is not known to have created many national level cricket players. He came with a fearless attitude as he did not have too much to lose. The expectations were not high and that helped him lead the nation without any pressure or fear. Dhoni took the reins of the Indian team when it was going through a very bad phase. He exceeded the expectations of everyone in the country by leading the team to first twenty-twenty world cup win. He led a very inexperienced and young team and showed to the whole world how he is going to lead in the future.

Since the win in the first edition of 20-20 world cup Dhoni has not looked back. He has grown from strength to strength. Dhoni has also led Chennai Super Kings, the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, in winning two IPL titles and one champions trophy titles.

The results that Dhoni has produced had earned him a big fan following and he is one of the highest paid cricketer. His brand value is only next to Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Indian cricket, with whom he shares a mutual admiration. Sachin rates Dhoni as one of the best captain he has played under and Dhoni considers Sachin as his most favourite cricket player.

Dhoni has publicly said that he will evaluate his position in 2013 and decide if he will continue playing international cricket or not. Off late he is going through a rough patch as India team lost two big series outside India. After the humiliation there were calls for him to resign but the team selectors pursued with him. Dhoni did not let the selectors down and led the team to a nine wicket victory in the first test against England. The whole family of Khatore Pharmaceuticals, the makers of hepatitis treatment and fatty liver treatment medicine, wish Dhoni best wishes and congratulations in breaking the record of Indian captain with most test win.

Ayurvedic herbs are quite effective in the treatment of ascites

Ascites is accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Ascites is caused very commonly due to cirrhosis and severe liver disease. Sometimes the fluid buildup is mild and cannot be detected externally. But in extreme cases, the fluid builds up to such a large extent that it causes severe abdominal distention. The condition is quite painful and the person suffering from it finds it extremely inconvenient to even move around. In Sanskrit, ascites is called jalodara. This word is made up from two words jala meaning water and udara meaning stomach.
In normal conditions, the peritoneal fluid is up to a specific quantity, just enough to provide the necessary protection. But in some cases, the volume of this fluid can increase drastically. This is what leads to ascites. Ascites itself is a symptom of several serious problems. The presence of ascites may indicate liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, heart failure, pericarditis and even cancers.
People who consume excessive alcohol are at very high risk of developing cirrhosis, which may cause ascites. Lack of
exercise is also linked with ascites. People leading a sedentary lifestyle and sleeping in the daytime can suffer from ascites later in their lives.
Ascites can be prevented by taking care of certain factors such as by avoiding drinking alcohol. Alcoholism is responsible for a big percentage of ascites related problems in the world. It can also be prevented by lead an active lifestyle. Exercising helps to build up the abdominal muscles which prevents the accumulation of fluids in the peritoneal cavity.
Ayurvedic or herbal treatment for Ascites has been available in many countries for centuries. The ascites research and its various complications have resulted in the discovery of the curative properties of several herbs for ascites.
Terminalia arjuna is one such herb which is very effective in the treatment of ascites. Terminalia Arjuna is a unique medicinal plant widely used in Ayurvedic medicine to support optimal cardiac and liver health. The herb possesses diuretic properties and hence it is effective in the removal of excess fluids from the body.

It helps in the expulsion of all fluids in the body of the person.

Khatore Pharmaceuticals resolves on World Hepatitis Day to expand the reach of ayurvedic medicine Kamalahar to hepatitis patients all over the world

World hepatitis day is observed on July 28 every year. World Hepatitis Day is an annual event that each year provides international focus for patient groups and people living with hepatitis B and C. It aims to raise global awareness of hepatitis B and hepatitis C and encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment. If Hepatitis is left untreated and unmanaged, it can lead to liver cirrhosis and complications like liver cancer or liver failure.

World hepatitis day has been led by the world hepatitis alliance since 2007 and on May 2010, it got global endorsement from the World Health Organization (WHO).  In 2010, July 28 was designated as the   WORLD HEPATITIS DAY in order to provide opportunity for education, and greater understanding of viral hepatitis as a global public health problem, and to stimulate the strengthening of preventive and control measures of this disease. The reason July 28 was chosen was also to honor Nobel Laureate Prof. Blumberg who discovered hepatitis B virus as his birthday is on July 28.
The WHO estimates that over 180 million people worldwide are infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and a further 350-400 million people are chronically infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV), a virus that is 100 times more infectious than HIV.
Chronic HBV and HCV can have serious consequences. It has led to liver cirrhosis in 20-25% and hepato-cellular carcinoma in 1-5% of cases. Cirrhosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease characterized by replacement of liver tissue by fibrosis, scar tissue and regenerative nodules (lumps that occur as a result of a process in which damaged tissue is regenerated), leading to loss of liver function.  Ascites is the most common complication of cirrhosis, and is associated with a poor quality of life, increased risk of infection, and a poor long-term outcome. Other potentially life-threatening complications are hepatic encephalopathy (confusion and coma) and bleeding from esophageal varices. Cirrhosis is generally irreversible, and treatment usually focuses on preventing progression and complications. In advanced stages of cirrhosis the only option is a liver transplant.

Acute HBV has a fatality rate of up to 2% in the elderly. These figures indicate the burden of both diseases. Treatment is available for both but is expensive and lengthy. A safe and cost-effective vaccine exists for HBV.
Kamalahar – an ayurvedic medicine provides cost-effective treatment of hepatitis without causing any side effects. It is composed of herbal ingredients which have been known to treat liver disorder over hundreds of years. The ingredients have been used by many people practicing traditional or alternative medicine to strengthen liver. It is the combination of those ingredients such as Tecoma undulata, Phyllanthus urinaria, Embelia ribes, Taraxacum officinale, Nyctanthes arbortritis and Terminalia arjuna which makes Kamalahar very effective for the treatment of hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver, ascites, jaundice. This year Kamalahar expanded its reach on the World Hepatitis Day to reach out to more patients. The goal for Kamalahar is to reach all patients suffering from Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, Fatty Liver, ascites and other liver disorders. Ayurvedic treatment along with diet control is very effective for liver disorders

Ayurvedic medicine or Alternative medicine is currently a good treatment for liver disorders especially for many of the cases where there is no treatment available in the allopathic or western medicine. But along with the alternative medicine there are other suggested things that a person suffering from liver disorder can undertake which will help the person and also act as a nice complement for the alternative medicine that the person is taking.
Below are a list of some foods that are considered to be good for liver which can be safely taken along with the alternative medicine Kamalahar.

Garlic and onions – Garlic contains allicin which is a sulphur-based compound needed by the liver for effective detoxification. Garlic helps the liver rid the body of mercury, certain food additives and the hormone oestrogen.

Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage) – These vegetables are very powerful detoxifiers of the liver. They contain chemicals that neutralize certain toxins such as nitrosamines found in cigarette smoke and aflotoxin found in peanuts. They also contain glucosinolates that help the liver to produce enzymes it needs for its detoxification processes.

Freshly squeezed lemon in hot water – Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice in a cup of boiled water first thing in the morning helps to cleanse the liver and promote detoxification. It also stimulates bile production, cleanses the stomach and bowel and stimulates a bowel motion.

Beetroot (Beets) – It’s a blood-purifying tonic that is also capable of absorbing heavy metals. If there’s one misconception about a detox, it’s that you need to sip on some tepid-tasting juice concoction for a week-long stretch before feeling “cleansed.” In fact, being more mindful of what you add to your diet often is just as important in promoting a healthy cleanse. And during this time of year, when fresh foods are in abundance, it couldn’t be easier. Check out the top fruit and veggie-based nutrients for liver detoxification, from Detox for the Rest of Us (Adams Media, 2010).

Apples – Apples contain pectin that bind to heavy metals in the body (in particular in the colon) and help their excretion. This reduces the load on the liver and its detoxification capacities.

Artichoke – Increases bile production. One of the jobs of bile is to remove toxins through the bowel, as well as ‘unfriendly’ micro-organisms. It has been suggested that 30 minutes after eating globe artichoke, bile flow is increased by over 100%.

Apart from the diet control a person suffering from liver disorders, hepatitis, cirrhosis, jaundice, fatty liver can take alternative medicine Kamalahar. Kamalahar is an ayurvedic medicine made my Khatore Pharmaceuticals which is based on herbs known to be very effective for the treatment of liver disorders, hepatitis, cirrhosis, jaundice, fatty liver, etc. The details of the product can be obtained from the Khatore Pharmaceuticals website.
